This Day in History: 1949-09-07

The Governor, Sir James Mitchell GCMG, attended the revival meeting of the Toodyay Race Club, the first after the Club went into recess in 1939. The meeting featured a handicap race of 1 ½ miles named after Second Wind, Sir Ernest Augustus Lee Steere’s race horse, that was spending its last days at Toodyay.
