The Toodyay and District Progress Association was formed at a meeting in the Toodyay Town Hall, convened by Postmaster Robert H. Lambert and initially chaired by Toodyay Road Board Chairman Horace Charles Wood. The meeting, believed to have had a record attendance, examined the possibilities of various schemes for the advancement and betterment of Toodyay. The inaugural elected officers were President Lionel Leslie Herrod, Hon. Secretary Robert H. Lambert and Hon. Treasurer Albert S. Overington.
