This Day in History: 1945-05-11

A drinking fountain dedicated to the children of Toodyay was unveiled on Stirling Terrace, in front of the Toodyay Post Office. The fountain commemorated politician Vernon Hamersley MLC, who had represented the district in the Legislative Council for 42 years. Charles F. Baxter MLC addressed the assembly. Master Anthony Hamersley, a grandson of the late Mr. Hamersley, took the first drink from the fountain.
