This Day in History: 1942-02-16

A Volunteer Air Observers’ Corps company was formed in Toodyay at a meeting at the Toodyay Town Hall. Flight-Lieut. O’Toole of the RAAF outlined the proposal to form units of men and women volunteers in every town. Thomas Forrester Christie was appointed the Chief Observer. An observation post had been established at Mrs. Edward D. Hayes’ residence at Wicklow Hills.
