This Day in History: 1941-09-03

A West Australian gliding record was established at Toodyay when a glider piloted by Arthur Farmer, of Fremantle, remained in the air for 5 hours 7 minutes. He was attempting to break the Australian record of 7 hours 2 minutes, but the machine was forced to descend because of falling wind. The time was checked by two independent timekeepers Messrs. A. Ammon and J. Bonshaw.
