A severe earthquake (measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale) was felt in Toodyay mid-morning, shaking furniture and walls. Some thought it was the ‘road repairing engine’ in the main street. The Perth Observatory reported the event as the most violent earthquake in the State since 1906. The epicentre was approximately 200km NE of Kalbarri, near the Meeberrie Station.
