This Day in History: 1940-06-08

A public meeting was held in the Toodyay Town Hall to further interest in war savings certificate sales. John C. Phillips, as chairman, with Messrs. Charles.F. Baxter, Vernon Hamersley and Garnet B. Wood, M L.Cs., addressed the meeting, explaining the certificate system. Contributions totalling £582 were made and promised, including a free-of- interest loan of £100 by William Robert Cousins, of Wattening, and two offers of free gifts of £5 each by Mr. and Mrs. David Edward Lloyd, of Toodyay.
