This Day in History: 1939-09-19

The Toodyay Road Board held a public meeting in the Town Hall to co-ordinate the efforts of every person willing to assist in alleviating distress during these critical times (ie World War 2). It was resolved to form a national service organization called the Toodyay National Emergency League, which would be attached to and assist the Toodyay Branch of the Red Cross Society, assist families affected by national service, and raise funds.
