This Day in History: 1938-10-02

Flying a locally-built light-wind soaring plane, commonly referred to as a glider, Arthur Farmer, of Fremantle, broke his own record of 39 minutes on Mr. Clarkson’s property at Toodyay, when he remained in the air for 2 hours 33 minutes 45 seconds. Mr. Farmer had hoped on that occasion to break the Australian record of five hours, but, owing to the effects of cramp, he was forced to descend.
