This Day in History: 1936-04-23

Over 170 members attended the fourth annual Country Festival of the Mothers’ Union of the Church of England, held in the Toodyay Town Hall. The event was hosted by the Toodyay Branch with the assistance of the Bolgart and Wongan Hills Branches. During a service conducted in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, the new banner of the Toodyay Mothers’ Union was dedicated by the Rev. Frederick George O’Halloran, the Toodyay rector. His Grace the Lord Archbishop of Perth and Primate of Australia, Dr. Henry Frewen Le Fanu, was the guest of honour at the festival luncheon in the Town Hall. Mrs R.H. Moore was acting President of the Toodyay Branch.
