This Day in History: 1922-04-22
The new Rifle Range of the Toodyay Rifle Club was opened in Pelham Reserve, high up on top of the hill. The range had recently been built by the Defence Department, under the supervision of Mr S. Wiltshire. Hon. Vernon Hamersley, M.L.C., declare the range open. Mrs. Hamersley then fired the first shot of the day, at the 400 yds. range, and in scoring a bulls-eye, showed that she had the Australian woman’s ability to shoot straight. This feat was received by the onlookers with loud applause.
