This Day in History: 1917-10-04
The headmaster of the Toodyay State School, Roderick Brooke Cowden, organised a visiting day for parents. The Minister for Education, the Hon. Hal Colebatch, politicians and inspectors were also present. New educational methods, that had been used at the school over the previous three years, encouraged self-discipline, observation and training in skills suited to future farmers and country residents. The special guests enjoyed a luncheon prepared by the girls from the cookery classes.
