This Day in History: 1910-02-24

Sir John Forrest (Federal Treasurer) visited Newcastle as part of his election campaign. After a reception hosted by Mayor Jonathan Somers at the Municipal Chambers (now the Foyer of the Toodyay Memorial Hall), Sir John addressed a meeting of ladies on the tennis court and, later, a meeting at the Mechanics’ Institute (now the Toodyay Library).
