This Day in History: 1909-12-08

Jonathan Somers was elected Mayor of Newcastle, replacing Abraham Myers, after an extraordinary election. (No nominations were received for the position of Mayor at the annual elections in November 1909.) Somers continued in this position until the Toodyay Municipal Council was formally dissolved on 5 January 1912.
