The Newcastle Branch of the Australian Women’s National League (AWNL), a conservative political lobby group, was formed at a meeting in the Newcastle Mechanics’ Institute during a visit from the WA Organising Secretary Mrs. Jessie Fordham. The Branch President was Miss Harper and Secretary, Miss Piesse.
