This Day in History: 1909-10-19
Mr. G. Chitty Baker visited Newcastle to judge the gardens for the Goldfields Water Supply Administration. The prize for Class A was awarded to the Sisters of Mercy, at the Convent, and Class B to Mrs. C. Donegan, Clinton Street. The Sisters, in addition to receiving a medal, will be supplied with about 20,000 gallons of free water by the Goldfields Water Supply Department.
