This Day in History: 1908-11-07

It was reported that local builder James Meredith was won the contract for the erection and completion of a general store and warehouse at Newcastle, for William Padbury, owner of the Colonial Stores in Guildford. The job entailed the conversion of the former Oddfellows’ Hall on New Road, Newcastle, for this new purpose.  Charles M. Lukin had been employed as the store’s manager.
