This Day in History: 1907-05-23
A public meeting was convened by Mayor Abraham Myers to discuss the proposal to connect Newcastle and the Toodyay district to the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme. The meeting approved the proposal, having voted against the idea of a referendum on the issue. The following month the Newcastle Municipal Council rejected a petition to hold such a referendum.
