This Day in History: 1907-04-17

At the annual meeting of the Eastern Districts Football Association at Northam, the Mayor of Newcastle, Abraham Myers, and his nephews Ernest John and Arthur J. Myers presented the Myers Shield, valued at £10 10s, to be awarded to the team that wins the premiership three times in succession or five times in all. The Shield was made from Western Australian timber and metal badges by G.D. Upjohn of Perth.
