This Day in History: 1906-01-23
An aquatic (swimming) club was formed at a meeting at the Newcastle Wine Saloon on New Road, Newcastle. G. (Samuel Gilbert) Beach presided. The membership fee was 2/6. As there was not a good response at a second meeting, it was decided to wait until summer.
