Miss Letitia Despard, certified nurse (late of Melbourne, Victoria), advertised she was prepared to receive patients (medical, surgical and midwifery) at the Private Hospital, Newcastle, located in the premises belonging to the Sisters of Mercy next to the Newcastle Mechanics’ Institute, on the New Road.
