This Day in History: 1904-08-05

Vernon Hamersley, owner of Hasely, near Culham, was elected a member of the State Legislative Council for the East Province at a by-election, following the death of Edward Keane. Hamersley held this seat until his death in 1946, being the longest serving member of the State Legislative Council.
