This Day in History: 1904-04-30
Newly erected premises for the Victoria Hotel, on New Road, Newcastle, had been completed by this date for owner May Harriet Treadgold, wife of the licensee Frederick George Ashbourne Treadgold. The new two-storey building (ie the right-hand side of the current hotel), designed by Perth architect Thomas B. Jackson, included a public and saloon bar, a spacious balcony, and a separate entry for residents. The existing dining room was to be renovated, and the stabling extended.
