This Day in History: 1903-08-03

At the Newcastle Municipal Council meeting, Henry Davey Jnr. applied for permission to erect a balcony over the footpath in front of his Freemasons’ Hotel, which was granted. Earlier that year, the hotel business itself was taken over by Edward John Myers, who held the publican’s general license for the hotel, and was renovating the business premises.
