This Day in History: 1903-08-01

Cyclists competing in the Beverley-Perth Road Race passed through Newcastle late morning coming from Northam. The 118 mile race, finishing in South Perth around 3pm, was promoted by the Dunlop Tyre Co. of Australasia. The winner was Norman Salomons, in a time just under 7 hours.
