This Day in History: 1902-10-08

A public meeting was held at the Newcastle Municipal Chambers in furtherance of the movement for an extension of the present Clackline-Newcastle Railway to Bejoording. Between 40 and 50 people attended, representing the whole district. Mayor Bernard Maurice Connor presided. The meeting decided to present a petition to the Government and also formed a railway league with separate area committees.
