This Day in History: 1902-09-11

Arthur Houghton Russell left Newcastle, having been the head teacher at the Newcastle State School for 4 ½ years. He was transferred to a school in North Kalgoorlie. The Newcastle residents presented Russell with an illuminated address made by Miss Vinnie Davidson.
