This Day in History: 1902-08-13

A public meeting was held in the Newcastle Municipal Chambers to protest against the proposed amalgamation of the Magisterial Districts of Northam, Newcastle and York. Mayor Bernard Maurice Connor presided. The Newcastle Hospital, currently closed with a caretaker in residence, was also discussed, with action to be taken on both issues.
