This Day in History: 1902-01-24
Jonathan Somers’ blacksmith and wheelright workshops in North Newcastle were totally destroyed by fire (origin unknown). Thomas Kingston’s adjoining workshop was also destroyed. The damage was estimated to be worth £5,000 and £300, respectively. Neither was insured.
