This Day in History: 1896-11-16

The annual Newcastle Municipal Council election was held. The two retiring councillors (Edward Francis Robins and Henry Davey) and two retiring auditors (Samuel McCombie and Mark Dore Rogers) were re-elected unopposed. The retiring Mayor (Joseph Ablett Wroth) did not re-nominate.
