This Day in History: 1892-09-01

Charles Yelverton O’Connor, Engineer-in-Chief, paid a visit to Newcastle to fix the site for the new railway station, finally choosing a site 4 chains west of the existing ‘temporary’ railway station, along New Road, almost opposite the Newcastle Hotel.
