This Day in History: 1888-02-03
Great excitement was caused by camels leaving from Newcastle en route to the Yilgarn Goldfields. The party, after being provisioned by Messrs. Rason, Webster & Co., started from their store at 4.30am and hoped to travel at the rate of 30 miles per day until the goldfields were reached.
