This Day in History: 1882-01-03

Rev. William Hugh Pidcock’s house ‘The Cascades” in Fiennes Street, Newcastle, was offered for sale at the Freemasons’ Hotel in Perth. He and his wife had decided to leave WA, having served the Toodyay Anglican parish for 9 years. The house was bought by the Church Trustees as a Parsonage, later that year, for a sum considerably less than that what Rev. Pidcock had spent to build it. Later, in NSW, he and his wife became Roman Catholics.
