This Day in History: 1877-08-11
At the request of a number of ratepayers and others, a public meeting was convened at the Newcastle Court House by Resident Magistrate Robert Fairbairn, to consider the advisability of forming a Town Council in Newcastle. The meeting resolved to memorialize the Governor.
