This Day in History: 1871-02-15
The first election of seven members to serve on the Toodyay Road Board was advertised to occur on 15 Feb. 1871.
The members elected were: Dr. Arthur Edwards Growse, Lionel Boyd Lukin (Deepdale), James Maclean Dempster (Buckland), James Everett, Daniel Connor, Frederick Mackie Roe (Roesland) and James Twine (Newgain). Four of the elected members were of the gentry, one of the yeomen class (Twine) and two were expirees (Connor and Everett).
