This Day in History: 1862-09-17
Thomas Mead published an advertisement dated 17 September that he had commenced business at the Freemasons’ Hotel, Newcastle (formerly Tregoning’s Newcastle Hotel), but very soon changed his advert (dated 3 October) to state his hotel was called the Freemasons’ Tavern and Newcastle Hotel.
