This Day in History: 1861-10-29

Governor Arthur Edward Kennedy attended the first Toodyay, Northam and Victoria Plains Agricultural Society show to be held in Newcastle (now Toodyay). The Annual Meeting and Ball were held in the Newcastle Hotel (later renamed the Freemasons’ Hotel). Samuel Pole Phillips was the Secretary, and James Drummond Jnr. the Chairman.
