This Day in History: 1861-07-01

The first Newcastle Bridge was completed, built by Joseph Walton, under the direction of the Toodyay Road Committee, at a cost of £1,100. The bridge was constructed from jarrah obtained from the Toodyay Road in the vicinity of Baylup.
