This Day in History: 1861-04-08

A tender had been accepted to erect three gaol cells for the Toodyay Depot Lock-Up (ie the first gaol in Newcastle, built in the Toodyay Convict Hiring Depot Barracks building). The current Shire Offices on Fiennes Street was built on this same site.
