This Day in History: 1853-10-07

Resident Magistrate Joseph Strelley Harris placed a public notice in the Perth Gazette to the inhabitants of Toodyay and Northam advertising a public meeting to be held on 15 November at John Herbert’s Royal Oak hotel in old Toodyay for the purpose of forming an Agricultural Society.
