During a subsidiary expedition, Ensign Dale, George Fletcher Moore, Douglas Thompson and Private Terrence Sheridan crossed the Avon River at the point where it turns westwards (ie the future site of the town of old Toodyay). The party continued in a NNW direction, before turning west and arriving back in Guildford on 8 October.
