The Database is an alphabetical list of names of people who had some contact with the Toodyay (Newcastle) district from 1836 until circa 1900. This information was collected and compiled by Peter Robinson (Toodyay Historical Society) over a period of years. His mammoth work was launched at the THS AGM on 4 April 2017. Print copies are available for viewing in the THS Resource Centre (Donegan’s Cottage), and at Drummond House – Toodyay Environment & History Centre. The Newcastle Gaol Museum, Clinton Street, Toodyay, also has a copy.
Information has been extracted from various sources such as Rica Erickson’s Bicentennial Dictonary of Western Australians (5 volumes, UWA Press, 1986-1988), Ancestry.com, My Heritage.com, Australian Electoral Rolls and some cemeteries. There are some discrepancies between Rica Erickson sources and Ancestry/My Heritage with some birth, death, marriage dates.
If researchers have additional verified information, Peter would be happy to add to/correct information in his database. Email: rope771@gmail.com
Peter acknowledges the assistance of Linda Rooney (Toodyay Historical Society) with layout and other IT assistance.
