The second Post about Plaques in Particular Places!

On 17 November 1963, the new Church of St. John the Baptist at 32 Stirling Terrace, Toodyay, was blessed and opened by the Most Rev. Myles McKeon, and witnessed by a congregation of 600-700 people, including 27 Priests and 53 Sisters of Mercy. A Solemn Mass was then celebrated by the Rev. Father John Chokolich (Parish priest). The Sisters of Mercy and the pupils of the Convent High School sang the Mass. Also present were the Hon. Minister for Police, Mr. J. Craig MLA and Senator Drake Brockman, the Rev. Mark Kirby (Anglican pastor for Toodyay) and Toodyay Shire Councillors.  Pews from the old church across the road were placed under the trees and the proceedings relayed by loud speakers.
